SESSION: Starting an Innovation Program on a Shoe String Budget

This presentation is for the many peers I meet who are now in the position I was in years ago at Xerox Business Services.  You are asked to start an innovation program with little budget and perhaps fewer resources.  The experience led me to develop some fundamental principles for building an innovation program on a shoe string budget.

The objective of the presentation is to give you the information you need to help your innovation program survive on its shoe string long enough to earn more robust support.  We address the following questions.

  • How can I define innovation to best support my program?

  • Where do I find free resources?

  • Where do I find budget?

  • How do I maximize budget?

  • How do I develop solutions with minimal risk and investment?
